INNOVATION HAS GOT A NEW NAME
WebUI Studio.NET 2008 R1 is here with new innovations you can hardly miss.
WebUI Studio.NET 2008 R1
Overview Why WebUI Components Requirements Licensing Upgrade Pricing
This is the most significant milestone in Intersoft’s development history since the implementation for Gecko/Mozilla based browser in year 2005. In the first release of 2008, we provide two browsers support at the same time, which are Safari for Mac/Windows and Opera for Windows and various platforms. This means you can now build a rich Web application and target it to wider audiences, who use different kind of browsers and platforms.

In this release, all components, provided in WebUI Studio.NET™ 2008, have fully support Safari and Opera browser. The list of the components is:
The list of the components is:
  • WebGrid.NET Enterprise 6.0
  • WebCombo.NET 4.0
  • WebDesktop.NET 2.5 (including all 15 components)
  • WebInput.NET 3.0
  • WebTreeView.NET 1.0

WebUI Studio.NET® 2008 R1 makes Web development easier and more exciting with deeper component integration that enables more possibilities in building rich Web application.

A quick example – in the past WebCombo is used to select a data from a long flat list. It is good to have built-in multiple columns feature and many others – but still it’s a flat list. When you have a large group of list, it rapidly becomes inefficient to show hundreds of thousands of rows to be displayed. Let’s think something creative – how about binding the datasource to a hierarchical-capable control such as WebMenu, and have the WebCombo displays the WebMenu instance instead of its built-in result box?

As we have more components joining the WebUI Studio Suite in the several past releases, we have already had complete User Interface product lines. Thanks to the WebUI.NET Framework™ – the technology that empowers all Intersoft’s components – it enables great extensibility such as adding deeper integrated features among Intersoft’s components.

In this 2008’s first release, we have added several integration features among Intersoft’s components such as integration of WebMenu control into WebCombo or integration of WebTreeView control into WebCombo and more.

The image in the left shows a WebContextMenu control being integrated into WebCombo.

With the special integration between WebContextMenu and WebCombo, not only you can easily select a data item by using user-friendly Hierarchical Menu interface, but also type into the textbox and WebCombo will search the possible match of the item in the WebContextMenu. On any matched item, WebContextMenu will be shown and automatically show the nested sub menus until the matched item become visible and highlighted.

The image in the left shows a WebTreeView control integrated into WebCombo.

Similar to the WebContextMenu, you can also type into the WebCombo. The WebTreeView is then displayed with the matching items highlighted. The parent nodes will also be expanded automatically.

Aqua theme is one of the bonus features in WebDesktop.NET 2008 R1. Aqua theme is designed to replicate the look and feel of Mac OS X User Interface – such as the window styles, color theme, and behaviors.

The Aqua theme introduces several enhancements to WebDesktopManager in order to provide closer feel to Mac OS User Interface:
  • Semi transparent taskbar. You can now specify an alpha-transparency image such as PNG to the taskbar background. You can also choose to move the taskbar into Top position to better replicate the feel of Mac OS.
  • Left –aligned window commands. This allows the window commands such as minimize, maximize and close to be aligned in the left side of the window.
  • Center-aligned text and control box. This allows the text and control box of the window to be center aligned on the caption bar.
  • Screen overlay background image. Unlike the desktop background image, the screen background image fills the entire desktop manager background including the taskbar area. When used together with semi transparent taskbar background image, it brings sophisticated visual effect and elegant sense to your Web application.
The following screenshot illustrates the new Aqua theme in WebDesktopManager™ and its enhancements.
