Powerful editor engine

WebTextEditor is carefully designed to use very minimal footprint and resources to ensure smooth editing experience regardless of the content length – makes it perfect for any content authoring solution. Key features include cut, copy, and paste, multiple undo redo, insert link, insert and edit image, insert media, insert symbol, insert and edit table, find and replace, word and character count, HTML inspector, and editing in HTML View mode.

Built-in document management

WebTextEditor includes a handful of time-saving document features such as import, save, preview and print document, enables you to add these functions effortlessly to your content management application. The auto save feature lets users to work more comfortably without have to worry on data loss, as modified content will be saved to server in a configurable time interval. The saving process is almost seamless as WebTextEditor used fast AJAX mode to send data to server. The import/open command will be visible in the toolbar when import feature is enabled. You can implement your own custom process and user interface for the document import through ToolBarClick client event, for example, you may want to show a WebDialogBox with a WebGrid to show a list of documents that user can open.

Multiple sections

Unique to WebTextEditor is the capability to have more than one section in a single editor. Instead of using several text editor instances which often clutter up your page, multiple sections feature lets you provide multiple rich editors in a single WebTextEditor control. This time-saving feature creates new possibilities and richer editing experiences that are previously difficult to achieve Each section is represented with a header caption and can be easily collapsed or expanded. The section editor automatically grows as users insert more contents to the editor, makes more efficient use of user’s screen.

Editing can be disabled in certain scenarios, such as when your application requires a valid user login. WebTextEditor provides two ways to set this behavior, from client-side or server-side. When operating in multiple sections mode, you can also disable editing capability in specific section via client-side API.

Watermark

Easily adds informative, user-friendly hints to your editor with watermark feature. The watermark message will be displayed when the editor content is empty, and is particularly useful in data entry scenarios. For example, it’s more intuitive to display “Please write your problem description here” message rather than displaying a blank editor.

XHTML 1.1 compliance output

WebTextEditor produces only XHTML 1.1 compliance content regardless of browser type, ensuring standards-compliance content for your web application. Thanks to powerful editing architecture, WebTextEditor seamlessly translates invalid tags and obsolete attributes into valid XHTML 1.1 markup.
