Getting Started with WebUI Studio

To take the full advantage of what WebUI Studio has to offer, you will need to have installed:

Download and Install the WebUI Studio 30-day Full Trial

1. Request an Intersoft WebUI Studio 30-day full trial from the Intersoft Request Trial Page.
2. An email will be sent to you containing the download link.
3. Follow the link in the email to download the setup files. Click here to read more about the new intallation experience.

Creating your First WebGrid

1. Run Visual Studio 2005/2008.
2. Create a new website project.
3. Notice that a WebUI Studio tab has been added to the ToolBox, containing a complete set of Intersoft controls.
   
4. Start by dragging a WebGrid control to the Designer area.
   

   The first time initialization will run. This process configures your project for convenient deployment using SmartWebResources™ technology.

   

   SmartWebResources™ technology an innovative feature implemented in all Intersoft ASP.NET components. It provides a fast, seamless deployment process by encapsulating all required resources into a single assembly for each product. You will see many ISNet.WebUI.*.resources.dll assemblies added to your project bin folder automatically. 5. You now have a blank WebGrid in the designer, preconfigured for easy deployment.
   
6. The next step is codeless data binding to the Northwind.mdb database using the WebGrid SmartTag.

   SmartTags reduce your development time by providing quick access to the most frequently needed properties of WebUI Studio controls.

   • Select “New data source”
     
   • Select Access Database, and then click OK.
     
   • Select Northwind.mdb, and then click OK.
     
   • Select the [Customers] table and check * columns. Click the “Advanced…” button.
     
   • Check the “Generate INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements” box and click OK.
     

     Proceed to the next window and click Finish.

   • WebGrid enables you to retrieve the database structure automatically, or to create columns programmatically or manually based on your specific requirements.

     Select Retrieve Structure and click OK.

     

7. Expand the SmartTag and check Allow Add New, Allow Editing, and Allow Delete properties.
8. Congratulations! You have successfully setup your first data bound WebGrid.

Licensing your purchased products

The first thing to do after purchasing an Intersoft product is to activate it. There is no need to reinstall WebUI Studio – just run the License Manager, insert your design-time license key to validate it, and resume your projects.

Renewing your subscription

Renew your subscription annually to stay on the cutting edge of development technology with the latest products and updates from Intersoft. Subscriptions can be renewed in the Intersoft Online Store. During the check out process, you will be prompted to enter your Subscription ID. It can be found in Intersoft Developer Network 3, under the My Subscription icon.
